Price both halves first, then look at the package
The only way to know whether a bundle saves anything.
Get the room price for your dates from an ordinary hotel booking, and get the ticket price for the same dates from the operator's calendar. Add them. Only then look at the package price. Doing it the other way round — starting from the package and asking whether it seems reasonable — is exactly what the pricing is designed for, and it is why so many people report saving money without being able to say how much.

Count the early entry, not just the room
The on-site benefit the price comparison misses.
A resort hotel gets you into a designated part of the parks about an hour before general opening. That hour is worth more than any other hour of the day, because queues that reach an hour by midday are walk-ons at 08:40. If a package puts you on site and your alternative was an off-site hotel, the comparison is not room against room — it is room plus an hour of empty park against room. On a short trip that can be the deciding factor even when the package costs more.

Check what the meal plan tier actually is
A plan you would not have chosen is not a saving.
Packages frequently include a dining plan at a specific tier. It pays only if you would have eaten at that tier anyway. If the bundle includes table service and you had intended counter service and a packed bag, the plan is a cost presented as an inclusion. Decide how you intend to eat before you value it.

Watch the ticket the package contains
One park or two changes everything.
A package with a one-park ticket is cheaper than one with a two-park ticket, and the difference is not always prominent. Given that World of Frozen, the Ratatouille ride and the Tower of Terror are all in Disney Adventure World, a one-park package aimed at Disneyland Park quietly excludes a large part of what a family may be coming for.
